Christmas Giveaway!!!

Christmas-giveaway

The holidays are approaching, along with all of the excitement, activities, and distractions that go along with them.  This time of year finds students and teachers alike struggling to stay focused and stick with the scheduled lesson plans.

Sometimes, during this crazy and fun time of the year, you just have to throw your lesson plans out the window and go with the flow.  Mix it up, and do your best to incorporate some learning into the fun.

Twas the Night Before Christmas

I’m giving away an activity custom-made for this time of year!  It is a packet focused on the beloved Christmas story “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” and includes an illustrated PowerPoint text of the story for choral reading with your class. If you aren’t familiar with choral reading, it is an instructional technique for incorporating fluency training into your reading program. Choral reading provides a model of fluent reading for students as they listen to sound, stress, duration, and pitch from the fluent reader. Less fluent readers can participate without embarrassment as they read aloud in a group.

This activity is a great way to build reading skills and reading confidence in your struggling readers, and features lessons in understanding homophones and similes, as well as exercises in summarizing, vocabulary building, and reading comprehension.

Comment on this blog post or Like this post on my Facebook page to enter.  Contest ends at 12:00am CST, November 30, 2015. A winner will be randomly chosen from all forms of entry and will be announced on my Facebook page within 48 hours. The winner will receive one copy of My Reading Resources’ Twas the Night Before Christmas Homophones activity packet with a prize value of $6.95.  See here for a complete listing of the official rules.
